Peter Huijing

  • the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis USA: Physiology (Ph.D.)

Teaching experience: For more than 35 years, he has been teaching students of many backgrounds (Medicine, Ergonomics, Physical education, Engineering, Human Movement Sciences, Sports science)

Invited (key note) lecturer at very numerous congresses and symposia for many years.

Co-organizer of several important international congresses: most recently the 2nd Fascia Research Congress in Amsterdam, 2009.

Fields of research: muscle physiology, anatomy, biomechanics & bioengineering, with applications in the fields of human movement sciences, surgery, sports science, physical and manual therapies, rehabilitation, etc.

Has published extensively about experimental and modeling work in the indicated research fields: Over 200 peer reviewed journal articles published between 1984 and 2013 among which several review articles. In the same period over 200 other authored and co-authored contributions were published in congress proceedings, books etc.

Is co-author or co-editor of several textbooks or congress proceedings: Most recently:

  • Introduction to Human Kinesiology (in Dutch). Wolters, Groningen, 1996 , fully revised edition.

Special Honors:
2007 International Society of Biomechanics granted its prestigious Muybridge Award for Prof. Huijing’s career achievements in Biomechanics.
